Heirloom chrysanthemums are cranking, and so is our dahlia dig!

November 8, 2021 By luke

We’re on Day 4 of the Great Dahlia Dig and will hopefully finish this afternoon or tomorrow morning! Our process begins with mowing the dahlias down, then running our tractor-mounted undercutter to lift them out of the ground. We then follow behind, pulling all that heavy soil off the tuber clumps by hand and cutting off any excess stem, then loading them into crates on the tractor forks.

Our Thanksgiving decor offerings will be announced this Friday!

With 2 weeks to go, we’re feeling confident that our beautiful, greenhouse-grown heirloom chrysanthemums will be a dazzling addition to Hudson Valley Thanksgiving tables this year! We’ll be announcing our floral options, both fresh and dried, this Friday (and a couple of workshop announcements, too!)

Dahlia production ramping up; new annuals, too; + upcoming dahlia workshops

September 28, 2021 By luke

Join us for our upcoming dahlia growing class and arranging workshop.

Join us on Saturday, October 2, for a fun and informative day digging into DAHLIAS; with lots of how-to information in the morning session on the farm including: digging, dividing, storage, planting, fertilizing, weeding and (…finally) harvest! Once you’re fully versed in Dahlia cultivation, we’ll have an afternoon arranging workshop at the flower shop where we’ll focus on working with these showstoppers as you design a beautiful arrangement to take home.

Many of these went by on us (they were totally green this morning! 🙄) but we came out after dinner and were able to harvest several crates that were still at the perfect stage. The bigger problem is finding room for them in the totally crammed cooler!
