We're working on getting our dried flowers listed for local delivery (and some for national shipping, too!)

The end of the 2021 season hit us like a ton of bricks and we've been slowly gaining momentum towards 2022...dried flowers have kind of been a bridge between the two. We pulled all the drieds down from the loft a few months ago and had a big, tasty spread @tinyheartsflowershop until we closed for the holidays. Now they'll be our new year 'entryway' flower, keeping us going until the shop opens up again in March for the growing season.

I've been making wreaths for the first tine in years...and we'll be offering dried arrangements and bouquets, too!

I noticed that it was kind of cold out today. So I ducked in here, where it's already filling up and was very bright and comparatively warm!
The sweet peas up front were started from seed in November and we just saw the first little roots poking out of the bottoms of the cells this week.
In the back are ranunculus, also getting root-y, and ready for plant out in the minimally heated house in a couple of weeks.

Not being one to jump on the bandwagon, I half-hea

Not being one to jump on the bandwagon, I half-heartedly trialed pansies last season, seeding them in January and then bumping up half into crates for cuts and half into little pots for @tinyheartsflowershop. I was very pleased with how easily they germinated and quickly grew on, but ended up being too busy to pay them much mind. But when you find that little flower that really pulls a bouquet together... that's a keeper.
So I sowed some more today, hoping they'll be blooming in time for Mother's Day this year, where they'll be just the thing to complement the ranunculus and tulips 💕

I seeded some eucalyptus this morning and stuck it

I seeded some eucalyptus this morning and stuck it right into the germination chamber 🤞 It's nearly impossible to get eucalyptus seed this year, so it's lucky I'm a seed hoarder...I found a couple packs of Silver Dollar and Lemon Bush from 2019 and I'm hoping they germinate.
We're not particularly great at growing eucalyptus and I chose not to grow it last year. Because it's slow to grow and set down roots, our finger weeder rips it out of the ground easily. Hand weeding is out on our scale, and the weeds have eaten it alive even under plastic in previous years.
But these will get babied because who know when eucalyptus seed will be available again...the plan is to grow them on in larger cells, stale seed bed like crazy, and, just in case, put a bed into the new hoophouse to overwinter til next year.

We started our first round of anemones in the gree

We started our first round of anemones in the greenhouse today. A little later than other years, because they're always a couple weeks earlier to bloom for us than ranunculus, and I'm never ready for them!

We're planting nearly 6x the anemones we did last year...2000 unexpected corms showed up at my door a few weeks ago, and with the trouble we've all had getting our hands on plant material this year, I wasn't about to turn them away! So, bring it on 😍 Now, excuse me while I totally rework my greenhouse plan to find room for them...
